As I was approaching the line at the grocery store I did my usual browsing of the magazine selection while I was waiting to check out. My usual go to is Glamor, InStyle, People, and Us Weekly. Pretty much anything that will fill my head with more nonsense about how girls should be girlier, size zero is the new size two, blondes should be blonder, red lips should be more red, and high heels should be higher. Then I came across the September 15th issue of Time magazine. On the cover was a perfectly put together Sarah Palin. Knowing I needed something to discuss I thought it would be a good idea to grab the magazine and read the article. The cover read "The Education of Sarah Palin by Nathan Thornburgh." By the look of the the stern but graceful facial expression Palin had on the cover I was ignorantly thinking there would be a positive light put on Governor Palin. As I began reading the article I quickly realized this was not the case. "They called themselves the Elite Six," was the opening line. It then went on to explain the meaning of this term "Elite Six." It was actually just referring to the group of stay at home moms who got together daily to exercise and get an early cup of coffee. It described Palins life as simple and unimportant. Thornburgh took every chance he could to get a stab at her politically uneducated rise to the Govoner of Alaska. It was obvious that Thornburgh was a democrat trying to journalisticly write a non bias article. This effort, however was small and and not very noticeable. When I finished the article, though frustrated, I decided to continue flipping through. I was almost ready to put the magazine down when I noticed the title of the last article was "Parent Trap Sara Palins complicated life story speaks to the agonizing choices that women face." The picture was of a coffee table with a lamp, a pot of flowers, the red phone, the baby monitor, and a pink blackberry. As I was reading the article by Nany Gibbs I realized that it was about nothing more then a praise to Palin and her accomplishments. As i finished it I almost laughed out loud at the fact that the positive article was tucked away in the last page of the magazine. This to me is a true example of the media being biast.
