What a semester!

This blog is not going to be very political or at least not specifically. It's really an overview of the semester here at Ole Miss so far. I've been at Ole Miss four years now and of all the semesters I've been here so far this one takes the cake.

The presidential election and the university hosting the debate of course has been first and foremost the exciting event for everyone. The debate is especially exciting for someone like me that is a political nerd and has a passion to see our country prosper. The debates have brought more than just excitement to our campus. The debates have brought debate-related events, guest speakers, famous politicians, notable journalists, tourists, favorable attitudes and press toward our university, and much much more. The event makes me even prouder to attend this great university. Every time I talked to friends that are residents of states outside of Mississippi and might be out of the loop on what's going on here in "little ol'" Oxford, Mississippi I can't contain myself and tell them about the presidential debate. It's something to brag about to everyone.

Another event, but smaller event in comparison to the future of our country, is our revived football program. Coach Nutt has already shown what he can do with a football team within less than a year. It's very impressive. People seem to have a renewed pride and excitement in the football program. As we have much still to look forward to seeing what happens with the debate we also have much to look to in our football season. The campus can only imagine how next year will look with the team.

Our campus has been getting major facelifts throughout the summer and this fall. I realize our campus seems to always be having improvements and that some of the renovations have been in the works for some time but we're now seeing the manifestation of the work. Our stadium has received two very cool jumbotrons, the residential college, the new hotel, more flowers and trees, the new law school, paved parking lots, the shuttle system and countless other improvements.

Then there have been many other events that have happened to me personally to make for a good semester: good teachers, schedule, friends, organizations, and other personal experiences. I won't bother going into them because they would be boring to many but God has always blessed me and he has seemed to bless me even more abundantly lately. I thank him for that.

There are several other points that I could make to ascertain how this semester has excitement and energy in the air. I'm looking forward to the rest of the semester. We'll all be watching everything from out football team beat MS State to watching how history unfolds in our presidential election. I hope we all can make the best of the opportunities provided for us, and not just this semester but for years to come.
