I think it is truly wonderful to see both presidential candidates emphasizing service in their administration. Both candidates have promised to make national service a priority during their terms. I think Senator McCain and Senator Obama can make a difference having both served our country, although in different ways. Senator McCain has risked his life to protect and serve our country in battle. A kind of patriotism that cannot be forgotten. He believes that one must "serve a cause that is greater than yourself." Senator Obama on the other had has served by becoming a community organizer. He saw that help was needed in his hometown and with extraordinary passion and hard work he created change in own community. The service given by both men have been influential and they believe that service in America can help solve problems and also unify the country. I believe that humble service is at the heart of what our founding fathers that pledged their commitment to this country. That is why Time Magazine thought of 21 ways to help serve. I am personally going to try to make a commitment to try and follow these steps and I hope many others will try as well.

I'm glad that you stated this. Both candidates have served in the community and in the military. I suppose that further re-instates that we all have something to contribute to our country whether it's organizing an event or serving on the battle field.
