McCain’s VP Choice: Palin Interchangeable with Clinton?
Posted by Anonymous at 8/31/2008 11:16:00 PMAs I watched television this Friday, I was amazed to see that John McCain had chosen Governor Sarah Palin (Alaska) as his running mate. Upon wondering who this lady actually was, I listened to various commentaries on news networks. A 44-year old mother of five who began her tenure as governor in 2006? Why her? This seemed to undercut his fervent accusations that Barack Obama is inexperienced. I hoped, for the sake of not being completely insulted, he did not strategically inject a woman onto his ticket merely due to her gender in order to win over Clinton supporters who are mad that Obama won the democratic candidacy. Palin and Clinton are indeed both women, but there are not interchangeable. Palin and Clinton have many differences within the positions on which they stand, for instance one is pro-life and the other is pro-choice, respectively. She does possess the youthfulness that McCain lacks and she is definitely more relatable to the public. Therefore, I believe that it is an interesting strategy on the part of the McCain campaign; we will have to wait until November to see if his plan worked.
