Multi-FACEted

The Time article "The Five Faces of Barack Obama" displays the different aspects that make up the man whose presence constantly surrounds us in the news. The five faces Senator Obama is broken down to in the article together make him America.
The first face is that of a black man; however, Obama is both black and white, having a white mother and a black father. Of course, the U.S. is not split into two groups - the black and the white - but it suffices me to say that because he is biologically both, he represents the minority and the majority.
His second face is that of the healer. As an upbeat and positive candidate, Obama gives speeches that suggest he can heal America. Who could say no to a healthy America, a properly united states?
The third face of the novice assigned to him brings back the question of whether Obama has enough experience and knowledge to successfully run our nation. Most people associate the word experience directly with how long they've worked in Washington, been governor, etc. One must also look at the rest of the work that has been done. It's not just about the GPA; it's also about the extra-curriculars. Obama has experience in striving to make bad situations better.
His fourth face could cause him trouble winning some people over. Being called a radical doesn't usually result in good feelings for many Americans because a lot of people are not hardcore left or right. Many contain a mixture of both and lean a little to one side like a bunch of Leaning Towers of Pisa pointing left or right.
His fifth face may be his most prominent. Obama - the face of the future. Americans know that we need change, and Obama is stressing it, repeating it over and over until it replays in our heads over and over and gradually earns our trust.
I think these five faces are accurate in trying to break down Barack Obama into individual pieces. In these faces, people can find ones they like and maybe some they don't. The best part is that being multi-faceted can give you an advantage. So many choices, so what's most important to you?
