Well, I don't know about many others, but I defintely saw it coming. The 2008 Presidential Election has quickly shyed away from the Presidential Candidates, to that of the Vice-Presidential candidates. Already, a parade of scandal and mockery, (Palin's past in pageantry and her questionable parental decisions and Biden not requesting to be taken into consideration for the Vice-Presidential candidacy, the media in all spectrums are having a field day in the world of gossip and overall misguidance, and forgetting to report the serious issues and topics of the upcoming term. I recently read the August 23 edition of Newsweek, which featured a somewhat watered down version of Barack Obama's biography. Now, I call this publishing watered down, because it definitely had enough tear jerkers inside, expanding on the hardships and struggles of growing up in a single parent home, bi-racial during a race senistive time period and his father's departure in reach of the same alma mater from which he heralds. I ususally respect Newsweek approach at political issues and completely understand there viewpoints on why an article is featured; however, this one let me down, because I did not feel that they were displaying Obama's past in hopes of portraying why his has some of his viewpoints and passions for change in America, rather than just exploiting him for his celebrity status, and just for the sake of doing so. The iconic and non-relative feature publishings should come in due time, but at critical times as these, we must stick to publishing the facts and ALL that is only pertinent to the 2008 election. We have to do better!
