David Bauder of Time Magazine provides an overview of how television networks are responding to the imminently threatening hurricane Gustav. Major news anchors are shifting their focus and relocating to New Orleans to cover the storm. Bush and Cheney will no longer be in St. Paul for the Convention (this may actually be a blessing due to their unpopularity). Jay Wallace of Fox News was quotes "We're going to go with the biggest story of the day tomorrow and right now the biggest story of the day is the storm." How this storm will affect the public's view of the Republican Convention is yet to be determined. If they compassionately reach out to the hurricane victims and show an improved response over the Hurricane Katrina disaster, this could possibly help with the polls. We will all have to wait and see once Gustav makes landfall early Monday.
