I saw a television commercial this morning for the Saturday Night Live Election Special airing tonight on NBC. Some of the clips made me laugh out loud and I realized why SNL has seen such an incredible ratings jump since beginning to profile the election and the candidates. There is no doubt that Tina Fey's Sarah Palin is spot-on, and Fred Armisted's Barack Obama is hilaroius, but I wonder how many voters are unconciously mixing up the real candidates for their SNL versions. I admit there have been times when Tina Fey's character has made me do a double take and wonder "did Sarah Palin ACTUALLY say that?!?" but I think its important for SNL viewers to remember that the characters on the comedy show are not the real politicians. I wonder if this will make a difference tomorrow.
