Hiding Biden

With only one more day left until the final election, both camps are getting frantic in trying to get or to stay ahead in the polls. According to an article in Time magazine, one of the Democrats tactics is ‘hiden Biden’. People who have known Biden and have seen him in action during his time in Senate know that he is not the type to be quiet or subtle in his comments and remarks. However, lately it seems that no spontaneity is left in the statements he makes. Journalists who travel all over the country with Biden during his campaigning, say that it is impossible to make him talk outside of formal events. And, as the article said, it seems that Biden won’t talk at all without some form of a teleprompter or prepared speech, making every comment he says a ‘safe’ one. In other words: it seems as if de Democrats are scared to let Biden talk one his own. They are scared that he is going to lash out and make a comment that could possibly hurt Obama like he did during a Democratic fundraising when he said “Mark my words; it will not be six months before the world tests Obama as they did John F. Kennedy”, spreading the fear that choosing Obama would accumulate in a world crisis. With only a couple of hours left, another lashed out comment like that could hurt Obama and he won’t have the time to do anything about it. And it seems that Biden also knows that his ‘spontaneous’ statements could possibly be harmful to his presidential candidate.

With Obama still running in the official polls with 55%, but McCain closing in on him it is important that no last minute surprises will ruin his path to the White House. If this means keeping Biden silent for one more day, then all I can say to him is: Thou shall not speak without (without a teleprompter at least).
