This morning as I turned on the television to begin watching election day coverage, I saw something that made me smile and remember that no matter who you support, the candidates are both real people with families and loved ones who want them to win. Cameras were trained on an elementary school polling locating in Chicago where Barack Obama had brought his wife and two young daughters to vote. Each of his little girls had excited smiles on their faces, and curiously followed their father and mother into the voting booth to watch them mark their ballot. It was a good reminder to me that, even though I may not want him to win, Obama is still a man with a family and life outside of the presidential race. It also made me once again grateful for the democratic system we enjoy as American citizens. How thankful I am that every person has the right to go to a polling location, bringing along their children and family members if they so choose, and cast their ballot for the candidate they want elected.
