Wading Through the Muck

As the Democratic and Republican parties enter the home stretch of this election, I am daily shocked at the incredible "smear campaigns" each party is participating in. For the last few weeks, Americans have watched ads questioning John McCain's health and battle with melanoma and Barack Obama's association with a "racist" preacher. The very latest in political smear is Sarah Palin's accusation of Obama "palling around with terrorists." The Republicans and Democrats are both equally guilty. It seems to me that each party has stooped to a shameful low. While watching the ads on television blatantly attacking each candidate, I can't help but wonder if the issues Americans should be concerned about have been shoved to the side in favor of half-truth smear ads. Can voters see past the endless mudslinging and decided who would be the best candidate for the presidency?
