What are the secrets surrounding the Bush administration? Who exactly is George W. Bush? Oliver Stone's comedy (the genre I'm assuming it falls under) depicting the life of current president George W. Bush was hoped to be a box office hot ticket, but fell far and long from it's hopeful expectations. On it's opening night (last Friday), "W" came in fourth at the box office with a modest $10.6 million. With the presidential election right around the corner, the strategy might have been to pull in avid political watchers; however, on opening night the target audience was absent.
Even the students around the Ole Miss campus are finding the controversial film a "might see" at best.
Courtney Anne Jackson, Junior Journalism major, is still on the fence about whether or not she'll fork out the money to see the film.
"Clearly, a [moveie] like this is not something that normally happens, but I guess it could be an effort on the part of the Democrats to emphasize the need for change."
However, curiousity is driving some, including myself, to see this film. Maybe it's the spot on appearances, from the familiar Condi smile to the classic Karl Rove sneer, the performances are all there as if the Bush administration had just flown in to be on the big screen themselves.
