Throughout the debates, Sen. Obama has remained nothing but calm and stoic in the face of criticism and Sen. McCain's increasingly hostile attitude toward anything and everything. It seems as though the Republican's "maverick" is fulfilling his nickname a little too well. In the Oct 27th Newsweek, Anna Quindlen analyse's both Obama and McCains actions and attitudes throughout the election.
Obama's steady temprement has earned him the respect and approval of much of the American public. His oratory skills have always been praised, but his calm under pressure is exactly what a struggling country is looking for in their next president, especially considering the last one can't always talk his way out of a paper bag.
As for McCain, his incessant whining and poor attitude are quickly becoming terrifyingly Howard Dean-esque, and that poor guy came in third in the Democratic nomination. All thats left is for him to go completely postal and throttle someone right there on national television, which is only a few steps away.
I have to wonder if he starts acting this way under election pressure, will he really be able to act as a figurehead for our country, much less discuss and compromise with foreign leaders? Obama doesn't seem to be any close to cracking, McCain really needs to start watching himself before he starts scaring us all.
