After looking through the newest issue of Time, the very last story in the magazine was by Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love. She wrote an essay on how she has different political views than her father and doesn’t know if she can stay close to him because of this.
As I read it, a lot of it connected to me. I’m exactly like my dad. My mom always says that we are two peas in a pod. We also don’t have the same political views in this election. However, I don’t ever think about if my father and I will stay as close. I know we will. I can’t even imagine someone with this close of a relationship letting politics split them.
We shouldn’t let politics get personal. I would hate to see a relationship end just because of an election.
