Leading up to the town hall style debate all you heard in the news was how McCain was suppose to be so incredible at that type of debate. This debate was suppose to be his one chance at redemption. According to an article on MSNBC's Web site, "Tonight’s town hall debate at Belmont University, moderated by NBC’s Tom Brokaw, is McCain’s last real opportunity to alter the dynamic of the race."

The big question that was on everybody's mind was can McCain use this debate to turn things around for him. Many people believed that he could based on how it was suppose to be his specialty. Unfortunately for McCain, he didn't do quite as well as everyone thought he would.

According to MSNBC, McCain "seemed to think that a town-hall debate on television was the same as a town-hall debate in a real town hall... His approach seemed to present a serious challenge to the show's producers, as they struggled to find the best way to frame McCain's interactions."  He put himself in a very bad light. He wasn't able to stay calm and cool like Obama.

Obama was also not willing to sit back and let McCain make him look bad, which is what McCain needed.
