It seems, that the importance of women voters in this election has become unbelievably emphasized these last few weeks. My interest in this topic actually began when I received an email pertaining to the earliest days of women voters. I almost put it aside as junk mail but as I read on I realized why exactly people are wanting to get the word out and emphasize the importance of our votes. It's very weird to think that grandmothers and especially great grandmothers of people my age didn't even have the right to vote in something as important as the election of the President of the United States. Thanks to the persistence and honor of women like Lucy Burns, Dora Lewis, Alice Paul, and many others women today have all the voting rights as men. How far we have come in 88 years to go from women not even be able to participate in the presidential election at all to having a woman vice presidential nominee and at one point a female presidential nominee. I encourage all women who do not know the history of these women to take a little time to research them and honor them this fall by voting in this presidential election.
