John McCain's choice to have a woman vice-presidential candidate is a topic of much concern lately. Some people see this choice as an attempt to influence female voters to vote for the McCain/Palin ticket. According to Ed Hornick and Carol Costello's CNN online article "Will her gender sway women to Palin?", the idea of "swaying female voters" is explored. Some women who previously supported Hillary Clinton find McCain's choice of Palin "patronizing," feeling that one woman cannot just replace another one simply because of her gender. Sarah Palin is not Hillary Clinton, and people are recognizing this fact. The Republicans apppear to be attempting to target female voters, specifically independents and former Clinton supporters.

Did McCain select Palin as his running mate solely to appeal to the majority of voters? The article also mentions that 51% of voters in the last Presidential election were female. Could this be why a woman little known with little foreign experience was chosen to possibly be the second in command for our nation?
