A few weeks ago, Obama's face was plastered all over the news stands. The amount of air-time he received was astronomical compared to McCain. He was the golden boy of the media and the polls were showing the effects of his fame.
Fast forward ten days and it is Sarah Palin's face that is everywhere. She has been the lead story on nearly every network all week (with the exception of Hurricane Gustov) and she is now the cover story in this week's Time magazine. In issue 172, no. 11, Sarah's story unfolds in the article "Sarah Palin: A Frontier Mom's Roots".
I find her rise in politics to be a quite inspirational, even more than the story of Barack Obama. I can relate more to her story than his. The article tells a story of a photograph that hangs on the wall of the mayor of the matanuska-susitna Borough. It is a picture of Sarah smiling while cleaning and preserving a moose with her family and friends. I have similar pictures but with deer, not moose. With what I have learn so far, her stance on abortion, taxes, gun rights, health care, and the economy are all in line with my views. I feel comfortable having her as a vice president because if she was to take office, I am confident that issues important to me will be handled properly.
Looking at the polls, it is amazing what a week can do. McCain has stolen Obama's bump from the conventions and Palin is now the media darling. I wonder what will happen next week!
