Turn of the Media

It appears as if this Presidential election is now down to vice-presidential candidates. Initially, Barack Obama received a great deal more media coverage than John McCain. The media coverage ratio of the candidates was then around 5:1, in favor of Senator Obama.

This week’s issue of TIME features Sarah Palin, the Republican VICE-presidential nominee:

At first, Sarah Palin appeared to have entered the national political scene from out of nowhere, creating such a stir as people wanted to know everything about her unknown life and career. Then Palin’s review by an Alaskan judicial ethics committee came to light, exposing her possible past abuse of power. And who could ever forget—Palin’s middle daughter is now pregnant, unmarried, and 17 years old.

One can easily see that this candidate is surrounded in a media hysteria. Undoubtedly, Sarah Palin has breathed life back in McCain’s previously unpublicized campaign.
