Up until now, I have only been watching the media coverage on TV of the politicians. But I decided today that it was time to go more in depth and look at all three of the candidates issues in detail. Surprisingly enough, I found that I agreed with some of the independent candidate, Steve Adams’ choices. Some of his ideas seemed to be the most realistic and the most obtainable. He believes in the Fair Tax plan, which is a plan that taxes us only on what we choose to spend, not on what we earn. I like this idea better than Obama’s because his still deals with class hierarchy. This makes it more personal than forcing upper class to raise taxes and lower classes to have smaller taxes. All Americans should be treated the same, not have special benefits. He wants to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and use electricity more than gas. He quotes, “Reduction of our dependence on foreign oil has the positive side effects of lessening the power of troubled Middle Eastern countries and lowering greenhouse gas emission as well.” We need to stop consuming the limited amount of natural resources we have, like oil, and start using the abundance of electricity that we do have, like for electric cars and reduce the amount of pollution. These are only a few of Steve Adams’ ideas for a better America, but it defiantly makes me reconsider who I am voting for. The only way I can make a better decision is learning more about each candidate. The media does an alright job of covering the election, but I feel like most stations are biased one way or the other. The magazine articles seem to be more convincing, so I will continue to read those. Until next time.
