Richard Holbrooke's artcile The Next President gives an in depth analysis of the issues that the next president will be faced with. The issues addressed in the article are those that have been put in place during the Bush administration, with moderate proposals to how the next president will begin to work towards each issue.
Holbrooke does a precise job of narrowing down some of the big topics: war in Iraq and Afghanistan, homeland security, climate change. His bias does seep through and his support of Obama is clear in some points in his article.
At some points Holbrooke is not even trying to show an unbiased opinion but is clearly against McCain.
The next president is faced with the problem of not only all of the issues at hand, but the possibility of America falling from the height of world power. Bringing the economy up on an international level and working to bring the dollar back to a respectable place in the world economy is another daunting task of the next president.
Holbrooke writes about great world powers that have been lost with the downfall of economic status. Attempting to catapult America to a new age will be the task of the next president.
