I find myself becoming increasingly aware of how near the debate and presidential election is becoming. Friday afternoon I turned on the television and began to watch CNN. CNN was covering the republican convention, which most of you know, took place earlier this week. I thought it was a smart move to delay the republican convention out of the respect for the hurricane that thankfully proved all predictions wrong and was not as bad as everyone expected. Something that caught my attention during the republican party gathering was the number and intensity of the anti-war protesters from Code Pink who snuck into the arena and interrupted McCain during throughout his speech. The chants and insults became increasingly annoying from the activists and McCain finally stated "Americans want us to stop shouting at each other." McCain was very clever to say this. With all that is going to on in the world, I believe both McCain and Obama are just trying to better our country. Yes there are policies that one may not agree with Obama on and some do not agree with McCain on other issues, but one of them will be running our nation very soon. When that day does arrive, it is our job as citizens to make the most of who is chosen and the policies that are carried through. America these days seems so bombarded with negativity and, a lot of the time, anger. I feel as though many people behave so irrationally when it comes to politics because there are many sensitive issues that one holds very close. The reason I am saying this is because America does need to stop shouting at each other; hopefully the candidate that America chooses in November will influence us to do just that.
