At 8:00 p.m. tonight I sat down and began watching the MTV Video Music Awards. It opened with the normal rock stars and pop princesses walking the red carpet. When the host, Russell Brand took the stage he didn't do the normal twenty minute opening act.

He first asked everyone to vote for Obama because if they didn't American would fall apart. He then bashed American for a few minutes, since he is from London. After, he lit into the Republican party. He first started with the party as a whole then moved on to President Bush. After he was done trash talking Bush and the Republican party he started in on Palin and her daughter. This to me is an example of Obama being a fad. When MTV is unanimously voting for something you know it has to be just the hip thing. It is almost as if he is the new designer purse. He is just the here and now. Tonight was a prime example of the trend called Barack Obama provided by MTV.
