I am fortunate enough to be taking a political science course at the moment, which has proven to be greatly influential to my outlook on the entire 2008 election. Interestingly enough, Professor Rosenblatt gives us fascinating tidbits every class to get us more intrigued with politics and the election, so I decided to share some of them in this blog.
-Joe Biden is considered the 3rd most liberal senator in America, and with Barack Obama being 1st, we have was is considered the most liberal Democratic ticket in history.
-Joe Biden had a 1.9 gpa (grade point average) at the University of Delaware. (There is hope for others! lol)
-If NO ONE gets gets 270 electoral votes: the House of Representatives votes with each state delegation having one vote. The Vice-President is chosen by the senate with EACH senator having ONE vote.
-Whoever wins the popular vote in a state, that candidate's electors become a part of the electoral college.
- The Electoral College votes several weeks AFTER the general presidential elections for PRESIDENT, and they do not meet as one!
-When we as U.S. citizens vote, we are actually voting for a slate of individuals and electors representing the candidate we support, not just the men and women on the tickets.
I deemed it important to include this information in my blog, because not everyone knows this information and if we are to have ideas and comprehend what is going on in election 2008 through this blog spot, any additional information on politics and political impact are essential. Thanks to Professor Cy Rosenblatt for informing me on matters that until then, I was almost completely ignorant about.
