Post Palin era

The article in Thursday's USA Today, "Feminist template obliterated" brought to my attention how many people have a set idea or "template" as USA Today calls it for women, or any other demographic group.

The article discusses how Governor Sarah Palin does not fit the "perfect woman". Feminist say they are for women competing and succeeding in the workplace and at home. What many of the feminist groups don't tell anyone is they only want a woman that is pro choice, anti gun, and do anything a man can do. Senator Hillary Clinton was the perfect mold in case anyone didn't know. Feminist DON'T want Sarah Palin or any other conservative woman. A conservative female can not be a "true" woman and promote the feminist cause.

As the USA Today article stated the Vice-Presidential nomination has "turn the world inside out and upside down" and not to mention turn the Democrat's world inside out and upside down. Those "anti-woman, Neanderthalian gun clingers" just can't nominate a woman to a presidential ticket.

This all goes to show that feminist and others have not moved into post racial post gender, if you will, time in America. If most people have moved on we would not be talking about color or gender as a factor in the race.

Groups like NOW and Emily's List need to identify themselves as what they are. If they want to be NOW liberal group or Emily's List promoting liberal women that would be fine. We could debate the issues on whether they are right or wrong on their political issues. The groups shouldn't try to pretend to be one kind of group, solely promoting women, and then being upset because the "right" kind of woman is successful.

There are conservative men, liberal men, smart men, funny men, pro choice men, and pro life men; so why can't there be liberal women, conservative women, pro choice women, and pro life women among many other varying qualities and ideas of women? There is not cookie cutter women no more than there is a cookie cutter man. And Governor Sarah Palin is no ordinary "cookie".
