The Alaska Independence Party is a sizeable third party that wants to vote on succession.
It was rumored that Palin has been a member of the AIP, but the rumor has been retracted. There was confusion, because Palin’s husband, Todd, was a member of the AIP until 2002 and attended the AIP convention. Sarah Palin did submit a welcoming video to the AIP Convention that said, “good luck” and “keep up the good work”, which is the polite thing to do as governor. As governor, she wants to support her people in any way possible. Let’s not hold this against her. She does not want to secede from the states.
Does this make Palin less attractive? I do not think her rumored membership should affect the election whatsoever.

I did notice that during her speech at the convention she referred to Alaska more than she referred to the United States as a whole, but I don't think that Sarah Palin has any plans of Alaska suceeding from the Union. It is ridiculous the dirt that the media tries to dig up. They will find anything, manipulate it, exaggerated it and then publish it. I don't think John McCain would have chosen a running mate who wanted her state to become independent. I agree with you that her welcoming speech at an AIP convention should not affect how people view her ability to be VP. We all have to learn to read this stories with skepticism. If we didn't, then we would be against every candidate by now because of how bad the media and ad campaigns have made all of them look.
