After reading through the assigned article “The Next President” I cannot help but feel that the article shed more of a positive light on Barrack Obama then John McCain. The beginning of the article focuses on the mishaps of the Bush administration and emphasizes the fact that the next administration in office will have a lot of cleaning up to do, “In such circumstances, his core challenge will be nothing less than to re-create a sense of national purpose and strength, after a period of drift, decline, and disastrous mistakes.” Whomever is the next to come into office must be aware and ready for the challenges that comes along with cleaning up after an administration that made costly mistakes, but on the other hand, EVERY administration has made mistakes that have been highly criticized by the media and public. Some aspects of the article had no regard for journalism objectivity. The fact that the article list conservatives that do not agree with McCain’s stand on Iran and Russia but fail to list supporters of Obama who do not agree with his stand on certain issues is not fair. With that being said, I do agree with the closing of the article that states that the next administration should focus more on human rights and basic human needs while at the same time encouraging the development of democratic forms of government.
