What If?

As I watched Al Gore's speech before Sen. Barack Obama accepted the democratic nomination Thursday, I could only wonder what if? What if Gore, who had President Bush beat out by more than a half million popular votes, actually won the 2000 election?  Would gas be $4 a gallon? No.  America would probably be well on its way to becoming a nation no longer dependent on foreign oil.  Now I'm daydreaming.

This election means so much for our nation.  Can Americans afford four more years with a president, who, as Obama said in his speech Thursday, will only offer us a 10 percent chance at change?  Sen. John McCain has supported 90 percent of Bush's decisions during the last eight years.

After the 2004 election, I remember thinking that I was going to have to wait until January 2009 for change.  Surely by then Americans would realize Bush’s policies are not realistic or effective for the majority of the country, I thought.  This week's news of vice presidential picks gives me even more hope for November 4.
