Last night concluded the much-watched Democratic National Convention, but now we have another convention to look forward to in Minnesota, the GOP's. Beginning Sept. 1, presidential hopeful John McCain will rally approximately 45,000 delegates at St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center in order to gain support and the vote. This morning, John McCain annoucned his vice president pick -- Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska. Palin is the first woman to be the governor in Alaska and she was elected in 2006. For me, this comes as a shock since rumors have been swirling that McCain would have picked long-time foe, business titan and Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney. And since McCain has chosen Palin, I am super curious to what she will have to say during the convention since Palin is pro-drilling in Alaska, pro-life, and pro-death penalty.

In other news, I though the Rev. Bernice King was an extraordinary speaker and I think she did a better job than her brother, Martin Luther King III.

"Forty-five years later, in one of our greatest defining moments, I am proud to introduce another Dr. King," King passionately said. "Please join me in welcoming my brother, Martin Luther King III."

The crowd proceeded to roar with excitement and overwhelming emotions as her brother walked onto the stage.

"On this day, exactly 45 years ago, my father had a dream that one day this nation will live out the true meaning of its dream," he said. "We are all children of the dream and he is here in all our hearts and mind, but not only that. He is in the hopes and dreams, and readiness of Barack Obama. But my father would have reminded us that his dream is not Barack's job alone. Americans need more than a great president, America needs a great America."

To see the smiling and tearing faces of those watching was priceless. I'm certain, given the mood and since its the 45th anniversary, emotions were overpowering. Heck, I would have shed a tear too.

King III said our potential as people is limitless, and it is. We are capable of so much, but greed is the one critical factor that is our Achille's heel.
