This weekend I journeyed home to vote. And while upon arriving and realizing the local courthouse and clerk offices were closed, my weekend did not go to a complete waste because I got the chance to see W. Too bad I wasted my hard-earned 8 dollars on a movie ticket. Exactly one hour into the movie, my friend and I got up and left the theatre. While the actors did a good job of owning the mannerisms of each political figure, the movie was ridiculous. I understand the movie was supposed to be a comedy but it was not educational at all.
The focus and structure of the movie was poorly orchestrated. The plot was confusing because the movie jumped back and forth between the timeline of George W. Bush’s life. I don’t feel as though I left the movie with any other knowledge than what I previously had learned about Bush. I admire Oliver Stone’s effort but he tried to hard to portray Bush as a careless youngster who just enjoyed a good time. And being that the movie was made to be a comedy, I am still disappointed that I did not laugh once! I doubt that this movie will make to the top of a 2008 favorite list.
And now, I still have to drive home tomorrow to go cast my vote!
