On CNN.com there is an electoral map calculator.  You can look at the map of the U.S. and see the states that are voting for Obama or McCain, whether it is leaning toward Obama or McCain, or if it is a toss up.   Also, you can create your own.  You can click on each state and make it red (being for McCain), blue (being for Obama), pink (leaning toward McCain), light blue (leaning toward Obama), or yellow (being a toss up), depending on how you think that state will vote.

In my Political Science class, we experimented with the electoral map calculator.  After learning each state’s political background and voting records, as a class we voted whether the state would vote for Obama or McCain.  We started at the West Coast.  The class thought the map would be bleeding red because the class is mostly republican. It started off as a biased election with McCain in the lead.  As we made our way to the Northeastern states, blue began to fill the map and Obama slowly crept his way into a leading position, and Obama eventually won the nation by a big margin.

It was very interesting to see how such a republican biased classroom can do their own electoral map and Obama still wins.  It just put it all in perspective for me that Obama will more than likely win.
