"What if He Loses?"

For centuries, the black community has had to overcome so much in America. Slavery, Civil Rights, etc. has brought discrimination to this group, and is usually the only thing written about in history books about them.
The tide is starting to turn, though, with Sen. Barack Obama having the chance to become president in less than month. It seems that the blacks in America will be able to hold a new sense of confidence against the racism and discrimination if he takes office. But what will happen if he loses?
In the recent issue of Time, Ta-Nehisi Coates writes that blacks have had to over disappointment since the days of slavery. Coates said that he didn’t even expect Obama to make it this far and had come to terms that he may never see a black president in his lifetime.
However, he said that the “Obama campaign has been the anti-O.J. trial” in the fact that Obama has shown that blacks can be the solution and not the problem. Coates seems proud that the most famous black person in America isn’t dribbling a basketball, holding a mic or no prison record.
It seems that Coates bottom line is that the blacks in America, probably not all of them, can feel like they have won even if Obama loses on Nov. 4.
