Tennessee Town Hall

With our debate come and gone and the solitary vice presidential debate come and gone, it's time to look to the remaining presidential debates. The town-hall-style debate will take place Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 8pm. I'm looking forward to this debate because it will contain varied topics for the candidates to discuss. They will have to be prepared for everything, not just one topic, like foreign policy. I am sure, however, that the economy will be the subject of a large portion of the debate. I'm looking forward to finally getting a read for where each candidate is in terms of our economical situation and plans regarding it. I'm being told that the best advice I can take right now is to stay in school as long as I can and just rack up degrees. Apparently a nice collection of diplomas and plaques is the only way I'll be able to make a decent living in the world with the way the economy is going. I will admit that the way my elders have been talking to me about it scares me. I'm genuinely frightened for my future, and not just in the way that I used to be scared of getting older and going out on my own. Because even back then, though I was nervous, I always had confidence that I would be fine and do well for myself. Now, I'm scared that I am not going to be able to do well for myself. I'm scared it's going to be the tiring, never-ending struggle I was hoping to try to avoid with a college degree that was drilled into my head as an absolute necessity. Now, I'm unsure about life, and I look forward to Tuesday to see what the candidates can do for our future.
