I wonder if the fact of Sarah Palin speaking with the press had made their campaign lose momentum.  From the date of Palin's announcement until McCain's advisers allowed her to begin speaking with members of the media his campaign had surpassed Obama's and made it seem that he could continue to build supporters and win the election easily in November.  But coincidentally (maybe not) as soon as Palin began giving interviews the Obama/Biden ticket widened the gap in the opposite way, and today the democratic ticket is winning by eight points.

While Palin has been given the crash course to Washington in a few brief  weeks, she may need to take a lesson in common sense.  She seems unable to showcase this, yet she prides herself in not like everyone else in D.C. She is an average Hockey Mom, who can appeal to conservative Hockey Mom's nation wide.
When Katie Couric asked Palin, what news publications she reads regularly, she answered "All of them" later making it clear that she was unable to name a newspaper or news weekly.
Couric later in the interview asked her to name a court case other than Roe vs. Wade. Unfortunately, Palin couldn't. But, the most obvious problem was Palin not being able to name a single piece of legislation with McCain's name on it, from any point of his forty year old political career.  Her response being "Ya know Katie, I cant think of anything, I'll do some research and get back to ya!"
Was Palin really such a phenomenal choice for the G.O.P.?
