Now that prices at the pump are gradually decreasing, renewable energy projects are no longer getting the attention they once had. Consumers are too happy to think about alternative energy projects and investments since fuel is below $3 per gallon. So will this eco-friendly trend come to an end or will it still be endorsed?
According to a New York Times article, both presidential candidates have made elaborate promises to the "go-green" initiative. For example, Obama is hoping to create five million jobs in alternative energy projects and McCain has pledged to make the U.S. No. 1 in a "new international green economy."
Too add to the bad news, shares in alternative energy companies have plummeted, workers are being laid off and plants are being shut down because interest is fading. It's important that the American people not have the attention span of an ant and get distracted to the point where they lose sight of the big picture. Even though gas prices are falling, it's only a temporary solution for a worsening issue.
