The Speech of His Career

While watching McCain's speech last night, one thing stood out in my mind. No matter what party the viewers consider themselves a part of, the way McCain presented the issues was incredible. Obviously, each statement was slanted towards the right wing, Republican view, but it still placed the issues and each candidate's view back to back. People could really compare McCain's views and promises right up against Obama's.

Also, the "town-hall" (or at least that's what the pundits are calling it) style setting for his speech did much to make him seem more approachable and normal. There is no doubt in my mind that last night's performance was the strongest speech of McCain's political career. It will be incredibly interesting to see the polling bounce from this and to see how long that bounce lasts.
Could this "underdog" perhaps make a comeback? The McCain/Palin ticket is definitely the thing to talk about these days. Perhaps the combination of such an out of left field VP candidate and an incredibly strong speech last night will be enough to push him over the top. Needless to say, it is obvious that it's going to be a close race.
