Site Network: Debate This, Ole Miss. | the j-department | debate.olemiss.edu | mblog | mcast | the university of mississippi

First and foremost, I must say that for the first time I'm proud to be a University of Mississippi Student (I hope that statement is not as controversial as Michelle Obama's "For the first time I'm proud to be an American" quote). This weekend proved to be not only an monumental achievement not only for our prestigious university, but for the state of Mississippi as well. For decades there has been grey cloud floating over our state. And even more, there has been an even darker cloud floating over The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss of the hardcore Rebel fans). The debate held here this weekend went off without a hitch. I was able to not only witness history, but I was a part of it. I got a chance to see Obama get out of his motorcade with his well poised wife Michelle and walk about 100 meters to the extended presidential entrance to the Ford Center. On the flip side, McCain was not as accessible. He had his people pull all the way up to the extended presidential entrance so no one could see him. Bummer. Obama's a lot smaller in person. The party in the Grove was also a well orchestrated event. I even got a chance to partake in the the Morning Show and it was very interesting to see how the show was put together. Definitely a learning experience.
