I’ve been a republican for as long as I can remember, but only because I’ve followed in my parent’s footsteps. Over the past few years I have dug into politics to find out the real scoop. I have remained a republican, although sometimes I find myself straddling the fence. Unfortunately, the whole “lipstick on a pig” situation has not sat with me very well, and it has not persuaded me to put my foot down on a side of the fence. It hit me like a punch in the stomach. I realized this is what happens in politics, and this is exactly why I get so fed up with it.
I watched Obama’s address to the “made up controversy”, and suddenly the light shone a little differently on Obama for me. Obama said, “What their campaign has done this morning is the same game that has made people sick and tired of politics in this country.” That sentence is what reeled me in. This is why I hate politics sometimes. People “make up controversy”, lie, bash, exaggerate, etc. and that is not what wins an election, or at least that’s not what should win an election. I want to hear the good things, their platforms, their background, and the reasons why they stand where they do on particular situations. I want to hear about the future. Give me a reason to vote for you!
Sometimes we focus so much on the bad and the ugly, and rumors are formed and dealt with; it’s a waste of time when we should actually be focusing on the candidates themselves. Bashing another is not what makes me vote for a candidate.
Why can’t we just put all this hoopla aside, and focus on what really is important?

I'm not sure what conclusion you came to but think about this. I will admit the pig on a lipstick comment was blown a little out of proportion, although I have arguments for both sides on that issue. BUT at one time Obama did a fairly ok job "being above the partisian politics and personal atttacks" but he has been the one talking about how Senator McCain didn't know how many houses he has. Refer to my blog called Cleaning out the Presidential Candidates closets and I think that will clear some of that up. Obama is also the one saying Palin didn't make a profit on selling the state's plane on ebay. Is that an issue? And who cares as long as she got rid of the plane. Obama is also the one that threw a punch at Cindy McCain AFTER Obama said family is off limits in the campaign. Yes there has been mudslinging on both sides but I hope people realize and see that Obama is doing just as much as anyone else; Obama just says "change" and "this is what people are tired of" after he throws his mud at the other side.
