In light of the disturbing crisis that Wall Street awoke to bright and early this morning, the Republican and Democratic nominees for president and vice president addressed the financial situation that's digging the US deeper into the economic crisis.   With rising gas prices (currently $4.00), scaling real estate, and the lack of consumerism, it's a much needed topic for the candidates to discuss.

The Vice President candidates were the first to speak, each from different locations.
Palin, live from Colorado, made her drive point that the regulatory system is outdated, and that Washington interest is becoming before the interest of the people.  Palin promised that John McCain would "reform the way Wall Street does business."

I was especially impressed with Gov. Palin's statement that there will be no federal bail for the Lehman brothers.  Her main concern was that the United States should remain the strongest market in the world, and to accomplish that by restoring the trust to the people.

Joe Biden, speaking from Michigan, highly emphasized Obama's economic experience, and cynically criticized John McCain.  His speech was eloquent, but one particular comment stuck with me.

Biden stated that, "America needs more than a brave soldier.  We need a wise leader."  I beg to differ with Biden.  The service of an America soldier can't help but create a wise leader.  The challenges they face on a daily basis include making the ultimate sacrafice.  Would not breed a good leader?

I personally believe that it was a very wise choice for Palin and McCain to speak in Colorado.  Call it a political guess, but in my opinion Colorado will be the state to determine the next president of the United States.

Frankly as a college student, I'm anxious to hear how the candidates plan to deal with the economic recession.
