Hilary did what had to be done for the good of the Democratic Party last night, and she did it extremely well. The speech was delivered flawlessly. Throughout the spring and summer, she hasn't been my favorite candidate, but I thought she was wonderful tonight. There was doubt looming about whether that was the speech that she would in fact give and to every democrats relief she did. In about thirty minutes she was able to thank her supporters, support Obama, point out the flaws of the past administration, link McCain to Pres. Bush, and convince her voters that they need to support Obama as well.
"Barack Obama is my candidate, and he must be our President." She started from the very beginning throwing unwavering support behind Obama. I thought that she did an excellent job of showing her supporters that if they had really supported her and her ideas that it was imperative that they throw their support behind Obama. She said, "Were you in the campaign just for me?" She followed that by remarking on ideas she stood for, and that it is necessary for Obama to win for their ideals to be upheld.
Great speech Hilary.
