McCain's announcement of his running mate really startled me. His choice seems so random, and so out of touch with who I (and most likely many others) thought he would pick.
Did he choose the governor of Alaska for the shock factor? Was it because he thought that running with a woman by his side would help him garner more votes?
Or, was it simply because she is a solid, conservative leader whose record in Alaska led him to believe she would make a great vice president?
It seems many pundits are assuming he chose her because he thinks it will help him with Clinton supporters who don't want to vote for Obama. Only the polls will show if this is true.
Still, I just can't help but wonder, what caused McCain to pick the governor of Alaska, someone with no experience in Washington...in fact, she's probably as far from the Beltway as he could get.
