i have been captivated by the democratic national convention for the past four days. tonight should be especially compelling with the first official democratic nominee speech given by barack obama.
nightly, i turn the television to cnn, after ten minutes or so i switch the channel to fox news. this schedule i have made for myself has not disappointed. i find it entertaining to hear strictly democratic reporters critique a speech at the dnc, calling it successful, then seconds later listening to the fox news right wing broadcasters tear the same speech apart. i don't practice this method of watching politics for sheer entertainment, although i do enjoy hearing drastically contradicting opinions, i do it so i am exposing myself to all aspects of the spectrum and can form an opinion of my own.
i have been impressed nightly by the key note speakers: michelle obama, hillary clinton, bill clinton and joe biden. the clintons are notoriously brilliant speakers and i believe their addresses should sway her supporters back to the democratic side after her loss of the nomination. biden's middle class upbringing should sustain hillary's supporters on the democratic side.
after watching biden's speech, it's clear that obama made a wise choice. those who don't believe the democrats should take office because obama's "lack of experience" may need to reconsider after biden's selection. he completes the ticket perfectly and i believe that the obama/biden ticket will only gain momentum and approval as the election approaches.
